  • Abstract
The author shows how the TQEM (total quality environmental management) approach combines quality with environmental responsibility, and has powerful economic incentives that can improve profitability for any company. He also discusses how these economic incentives have worked for the Xerox Environmental Leadership Program. Environmental leadership at Xerox is reflected in all major business functions, including product and packaging design, manufacturing and operations, and marketing and communications. He points out that the TQEM goal is continuous improvement toward virtually eliminating pollution and waste
