Abstract :
The paper presents a novel broad-band patch antenna for third generation mobile phone handsets. The planar U-shaped structure in configuration of the inverted-F antenna is reported. The characteristics of the radiating structure have been simulated using method of moments code and validated with measurements of the fabricated prototype. The bandwidth (VSWR of 2:1) of about 24,16%, covering PCS, DCS systems and uplink and downlink bands of the UMTS standard is obtained. Stable radiation patterns are observed across the passbands.
