The analysis and application of associative element-combining configuration of Dongba Characters

In the light of the internal configuration pattern of Dongba Characters, this paper proposed the concept of “graph element”. Based on the concept of “graph element”, the author explained associative element-combining configuration of Dongba Characters, and analyzed the use of graph and meaning and the 3 major features, which are position, color and size ratio, in both homo-graph element and hetero-graph element configuration of associative element-combining characters. The use of Dongba Character as basic element in design and application of these configuration patterns, ideas and expressions into brand image advertising design can enrich both the information content and the visual connotation it expresses.
