Abstract :
We propose a six-phase spiral type motor that had higher thrust characteristics than linear motor´s. This motor generates torque around it´s axis and thrust in the axial direction only by electromagnetic force. Because no additional hardware is required for straight-line movement, this type of motors has less friction. Simulation results based on finite-element method (FEM) analysis certifies that this type of motors has higher thrust constant per unit volume than other linear motors. We also study a method to compensate the thrust fluctuation of the five-pitch stator and six-pitch mover model
