Abstract
This paper suggests a technique to improve the performance of array shape estimation. First, array shape is estimated using polynomial fitting method under the assumption of horizontally equi-spaced hydrophones. The second, the estimated hydrophone positions are interpolated using spline interpolation. The last, the hydrophone positions, which satisfy the real hydrophone spacing, are selected among the interpolated hydrophone positions. The numerical experiments showed that the proposed technique effectively reduces distance error, especially in the cases of severe array shape perturbations
