Abstract :
This paper discusses results for 2D and 3D imaging sonar system designs using blazed acoustic arrays. These sonar systems take advantage of the blazed array´s ability to map angular imaging information into the frequency domain of broadband sonar signals. This design technique can significantly reduce sonar hardware requirements (size, weight, power and cost) making it particularly well suited to unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) applications where volume, weight and power consumption must be minimized
