Abstract :
Results of a preliminary investigation of the application of the postfiltering technique to the problem of enhancing the intelligibility of speech that has been corrupted by additive noise are presented. Results from preliminary intelligibility tests are discussed. It is concluded that with reasonably accurate estimates of the underlying speech features (i.e. formants, V/UV decision), postfiltering can indeed increase the intelligibility of voiced speech corrupted by high levels of noise
