Abstract :
Critical to the success of any business endeavor is the product and critical to the product is its design. This design must meet the customers´ expectations while being manufacturable, thus ensuring its quality and price competitiveness. ISO 9000 recognizes the importance of the design phase and specifies its control. The design qualification process is an integrated one and combines a number of disciplines in an evolving process. The ISO 9000 document requires that a system of checks and balances be applied to assure process success; that is, a product that meets the customers´ expectations. The following is one solution to the rigors of the process and compliance with the requirements. In practice, this solution would be documented to satisfy the ISO 9000 Design Control requirements
