  • Abstract
We investigate the feasibility of conventional and gain transparent (GT) SOA-MZI gates for high-speed add/drop multiplexing (ADM). ADM from an aggregate bit rate of 320 Gbit/s to base data rates of 10 Gbit/s, 40 Gbit/s and 80 Gbit/s is demonstrated by means of numerical simulations. Such high bit rates become feasible when using a modified SOA-MZI setup where independent phase shift optimization is performed for drop and clear ports, simultaneously.
