Abstract :
This paper presents a dual-band leaky-mode antenna of similar radiation characteristics using the recently developed electric-magnetic-electric (EME) microstrip. The magnetic surface made of an array of PBG cells shows a high-impedance state in the stopbands of 10.6 GHz and 22.5 GHz, observed from the surface-wave dispersion relation computed by the finite-element method. The dispersion diagram of the EME microstrip at the first higher order (EHt), obtained by matrix-pencil analyses and validated experimentally by measured radiation patterns, indicates the strong radiation behavior with fan beam patterns at two frequency bands of 5.25 GHz and 12.35 GHz.
