  • Abstract
The power system optimization is to schedule the generating units within the limits and simultaneously minimize the fuel cost and emission values subject to constraints. The paper proposes new penalty factor for Combined Economic Emission Dispatch (CEED) problem using particle swarm optimization algorithm. The IEEE 30 bus system with six generating units is tested in Matlab environment. The simulation results show that the CEED problem using Min-Max penalty factor provides less fuel cost value with comparison to Max-Max penalty factor.
