Abstract
The results of an investigation on the performance of an optical communication link in the area of Rome are described. Binary pulse polarization modulation at 76 Mbit/sec has been used, with a helium neon laser working at 6328 Ã
and a propagation path 3.6 km long. The possibility of achieving low error rates at high affidability is discussed.
