Abstract
Until recently, centralized systems have been the standard approach for data and digital content sharing. Because systems have become more complex and peer-to-peer sharing rather than hierarchical sharing is desired, there is a critical need to utilize distributed intelligent system architectures. In such an environment, the system resources are inherently spread throughout the network, thereby removing bottlenecks that are present in centralized systems. With the addition of intelligence, each node becomes a holon with the ability to coordinate and cooperate with other holons in order to achieve local and global goals. The use of wireless technology allows the holons to be mobile. This paper explores the hardware and software requirements for such a system and implementation to achieve these features
