Abstract :
A new generator is described which supplies a single subnanosecond waveform for measurements over the entire 0.4 to l8 GHz range. The very large instantaneous bandwidth is obtained from a composite waveform made up of quasi-impulse and RF burst. A 20 dB attenuation measurement using the generator shows agreement with calibrated values to within 0.2 dB over most of the frequency points. Thus it is now feasible to perform very wideband measurements with this relatively simple and inexpensive subnanosecond generator.
