Abstract
A study on improving efficiency of UHF RFID antenna attached to a mobile phone has been carried out experimentally. It is revealed that ways of grounding the RFID board to the phone board affect the antenna performance drastically in addition to the position and orientation of the RFID board relative to the phone board. Measurements of designed antenna prototypes show that antenna efficiency of -2dB can be realized with proper grounding and positioning of the RFID board to the mobile phone chassis in the 900 MHz band.
