Abstract
About ten years ago the Bioengineering Department at the University of Pennsylvania adopted a new undergraduate curriculum that includes four required, full credit laboratory courses, one in each semester of the second and third years. Since then these courses have evolved in many ways that reflect our teaching experience. The use of modern technology as well as a novel approach to teaching real world concepts and methods has made the lab experience more enjoyable and resulted in enhanced learning.
