Abstract :
In a climate where there is continuing pressure on the time of an academic to contribute to the departmental enterprise, and where engineering students must develop personal and team skills as well as technical competence in an ever expanding field of knowledge, tasks have been devised which provide real experiential learning for the students and beneficial outcomes for department operation. This paper describes the type of tasks their scope and the benefits that the extended department team enjoy.
