Abstract :
It is important to determine the hook´s position by the instrument when the petroleum drilling machine works, thus the paper designed the height indicator on the base of the embedded technology. The designed indicator is mainly composed of a Micro Control Unit (MCU), a 7-segment LED , a LED bar meter, an 8-bit photoelectric rotary encoder and a small keyboard. The MCU processes data and controls the indicator to run normally. The 7-segment LED is used to display the hook´s height, and the LED bar meter used to simulate the up and down movement of the hook. The photoelectric rotary encoder is fixed on the winch for obtaining the hook´s height by its angular position information. By operating keyboard, the required parameters can be set and the indicator self-learning work can be controlled. In the indicator, the MCU-monitored signal power protection circuit is set to protect data. The physical application on the oil rigs shows that the designed indicator can perfectly simulate the hook´s behave and give its relative height in the permissible error.
