Abstract :
In this work a procedure for characterization of polymeric piezoelectric sensors is proposed. Results are presented for two sensors based on polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF). The electrical impedances of the sensors in the range between 100 Hz and 30 MHz were measured. Then, the spatial and temporal responses of near-field were determined using thin circular absorbent objects excited by laser pulses. Finally, the relative sensitivity to deformations was measured using a laser focused on different points of the surface. The results presented in this work are relevant for the development of sensors based on this technology, with great potential for optoacoustic tomography.
