Abstract
This paper introduces a digital simulation using PSCAD/EMTDC environment for sensors to be used in measuring the wind speed, turbine rotational speed and wind flow direction. The paper also, simulate the actuators actions in order to adjust the blade pitch angle to maintain the desired speed of rotation as the wind speed changes and/or to rotate the Nacelle of the turbine to keep the rotor facing into the wind as the wind direction changes. Finally, the paper presents an introduction to the present work in the field of introducing MEMs based sensors and comb drive actuators to replace the traditional ones in wind turbines. As well as, illustrating the expected improvements in the performance of the wind turbine while using the MEMs devices.
