Abstract
A novel approach called digital signature mapping (DSM) is proposed for testing and repairing loaded printed circuit boards (LPCBs). This microcomputer-based approach performs real-time measurement for LPCBs under test, particularly CNC (computer numerical control) controller boards. DSM uses the MC6809 and well-known test tools, so the proposed system is not very expensive and is very useful in testing and repairing small quantities of LBCBs. The required software, which is generated by mapping the signature of test points of a good LPCB, makes it suitable for application in a factory that uses a variety of CNC machines.<>
