Abstract :
Discussed is a dual mode coaxial horn for prime focus applications. A coaxial horn is excited by a TE11 mode generator - the dipole. The result is an antenna pattern with an axially symmetrical main beam, and low sidelobes. Further considerations show the dual mode horn family possessing several members, including the well known Backfire Antenna Analytical and experimental design data is presented for a 4 - 5 GHz feed.
