Abstract
Digital Gandhara will be a 3D reconstruction of Buddhist historical sites using state-of-the-art digital technologies. Different techniques will be employed for accurate 3D data acquisitions. Buildings will be surveyed by 3D digital survey techniques using conventional total station and reflectorless EDMs. Close range scanning using triangulation will be used for small complex objects such as stupas, sculptures and archaeological artifacts. Medium to long range scanners will be used for interiors and exteriors facades. Digital townscape of Taxila will be accurately reconstructed. A Website will complement the interactive landscape, models of the sites and database of collections of Taxila Museum. Site will provide digital 2D computer graphics, architectural materials, diagrams, old excavation photographs and plans etc. The focus of that project is accurate 3D data acquisition and application of 3D data for 3D reconstruction of historical sites
