Abstract
This paper analyzes the position of Chinese textile and apparel (T&A) in global value chain (GVC). Chinese textile and apparel industry has inserted the GVC since the open-door policy. With the output and export increase, the competiveness of Chinese textile and apparel decreases, focusing on low value added activities. The key reason is that domestic firms enter the low value added activities of Global Value Chain and the activities of design, R&D, marketing and brand operation are crowded out. The latter is important to enhance the control power over the industry. So it is countermeasure that government, industry and enterprises develop the high value added activities to break through the difficulties.
