Abstract
This paper presents a new fault-location method. The method does not require line parameters, which is often affected by the load and weather. The algorithm utilizes unsynchronized data acquired from both terminals of transmission lines. First the distance formula containing synchronized angle ,voltage and current is performed with a lumped parameter line model. Then the results are utilized for an iterative process. The proposed algorithm is applicable for accurately locating faults on transmission lines and it will not be affected by fault resistance and sources impedances. ATP-EMTP simulation results show the effectiveness of the algorithm.
