Abstract :
Hand biometrics (particularly fingerprints) have become fairly prevalent in a number of countries. The primary use of this technology is for identification and ID verification. Saudi Arabia, for instance, has applied biometric technology for many applications. However, most people don´t have enough experience about biometrics technology. Moreover, user acceptance and perception is a new evaluation measure for biometrics systems. Few studies have been done to address this issue compared to performance evaluation of such systems. This paper introduces with an overview of hand biometrics technologies. This paper aims to study user perceptions of hand biometrics in one particular society; the Arab society; to determine the acceptability of this technology within the society. It shows a pilot comparison between many approaches and algorithms proposed in literature of hand biometrics. Finally, some findings and conclusion will be presented.
