Abstract :
High-sensitivity optical communications with coding is investigated experimentally to explore performance limits in the low photon-per-bit regime. Receiver sensitivities of 11 and 16 photons-per-bit at bit-error-rate are demonstrated for OOK and DPSK at 1OGbps
