Abstract :
A method is described for phaselocking a low Q millimeter wave IMPATT oscillator by injecting a signal through the bias circuit at a frequency much lower than the output frequency. The frequency of the injected signal is close to the frequency of a spurious oscillation observed in the bias circuit at a few GHz. Phase locking with no phase jitter was observed over a locking range as large as 1 GHz at an input power of 10 dBm.
