Abstract :
A microwave tunable oscillator using a magnetostatic surface wave two-port etched groove resonator as the frequency selective element and a GaAsFET chip for gain in the feedback loop has been achieved and tested. The oscillator circuit has been designed using the theoretical model of a GaAsFET and the equivalent circuit of the resonator which has been determined from physical considerations and from external S - parameter measurements. The device is continuously tunable from 1.9GHz to 5.1GHz with a single mode operation observed between 3.8GHz and 5.1GHz.
