  • Abstract
Proposes a new model for aligning business process engineering and business application development and implementation. The model is built on the concepts of distributed business objects and event-driven computing. Business processes are modeled as a series of interactions with business objects such as customers, orders and inventory. The required sequence of and relationship between these interactions is expressed as a set of business events, i.e. state changes to the affected business objects. Because both the business model and the system implementation are expressed in the same terms, this architecture ensures optimal communication between business and IT, and therefore quicker, better-suited and more flexible systems solutions
