Abstract :
Image fusion techniques can improve the quality, and increase the application of satellite images. The wavelet transforms provides a preeminent approach for the improvement of the spatial resolution with minimal distortion of the spectral content of the source image. Three types of wavelet bases and four types of wavelet transforms are used to perform the fusion between MODIS and NOAA images. The results showed it is possible to fuse images with a large ratio of spatial resolution such as MODIS and NOAA images. Based on the criteria proposed for quality assessment, the Daubechies wavelet was best for wavelet decomposition and reconstruction. And the four fusing methods have different advantages in the reservation and enhance of image information.
