Abstract :
Special features of winter precipitation and minimum temperature are studied on the basis of 1959-2008 precipitation data and temperature data in January over Hunan, Hubei, Guizhou, Guangxi, Jiangxi and Anhui. In the 6 southern-China provinces, monthly precipitation, rain days and minimum temperature have growing tendencies. Both of monthly precipitation and rain days with larger values in the southeast than in the northwest, are closely related to latitude, longitude and altitude. Similarity coefficient of them approaches 1, implying the similarity. And values of minimum temperature in the southwest are larger than in the northwest, discriminatively with 3 low centers in south Anhui, southwest Hubei and mid-east Hunan. The generalized extreme value distribution model passed significance test (alpha=0.01) has been established with minimum temperature, resulting the extreme value -6.78degC(-7.41degC) with a return period of 50a(100a). Finally, researches show no correlation between winter precipitation and minimum temperature, but the first 6 pairs of canonical correlation variables have correlation coefficients larger than 0.98.
