Abstract
The results of study of the electric strength, tan δ and partial discharge parameters in PET film insulation with different thickness are represented in this paper. It was established that the mechanism of a polymeric films breakdown has ionization nature due to the fringing effect and nonideal contact between electrodes and dielectric. The experimental results of study of the ignition voltage of critical partial discharges which can result in both the destruction of polymeric films and sharp decrease of the Q-factor are presented in this paper.
