Abstract
Reports on progress towards the creation of an optical synthesizer. We consider the noise contributions of the two key elements of the new generation of frequency synthesisers: frequency interval dividers and frequency comb generators. We demonstrate that a synthesis resolution of 1 part in 1015 over a few seconds of integration time is feasible using these elements
