Abstract :
As an important stage of the whole traffic management, Road traffic safety evaluation is an effective method which is adopted to distinguish hidden accident, decrease the accident rate and the severity degree of accident. Combining with the road traffic safety management of our country, the paper establishes an evaluation index system of the road traffic safety, analyzes the advantage and necessity of building road safety evaluation using geographic information system (GIS), and the function, design method of road safety evaluation system based on GIS are probed into. The road safety evaluation based on GIS can constitute the corresponding safety strategies, advance the traffic safety management level of our country, prevent the accident effectively.
