  • Abstract
The problem of distortion is a foundational field in the research of discrete global grid. And it is an important method to assess the discrete global grid. The research history in this field and the representational work were introduced. A new method was brought forward to compute the quantities of distortion. An ideal partition model of discrete global grid was built based on the analysis of distortion source. The errors between ideal partition and actual partition were computed. Four representative discrete global grids were selected and the errors of area and side of partition were computed. They were QTM, Synder, SQT and STQIE. Standard deviation and relative range of area and side were computed. The spatial distribution of error was analysed by using binomial polynomial regressions. The uniformity of discrete global grid was also discussed. Finally the change rules of error were discussed and the conclusions of distortion characteristic of discrete global grid were drawn.
