  • Abstract
The proposed scheme varies the carrier-to-interference ratio (C/I) threshold in order to reduce the probability of interference and to increase traffic handling capacity. The scheme uses a channel segregation algorithm in which, in order to avoid interference, each base station independently determines channel priority from the results of interference signal strength measurements. A higher C/I threshold is set for higher priority channels to reduce the probability of interference, and a lower C/I threshold is set for lower priority channels to decrease blocking probability. Simulation results show that for the same interference ratio, the capacity of the variable C/I threshold scheme is 20% higher than that of a constant C/I threshold scheme
