Management Service on WMS/WFS services

Organizations of Geographic Information Standardization have ignored the development of management of Geographic Information Services. Thus, different GIS software vendors have implemented their own service management approaches and have not provided a unified interface, which brings many difficulties to users in using, integration, dynamic management, etc. In this context, a specification to manage WMS/WFS is proposed, which is called Management Service on Geographic Information Services, MSGIS for short. MSGIS is a Web Service specification to manage WMS/WFS based on SOA. There are five service interfaces in MSGIS, including GetCapabilities, RegisterService, RemoveService, RegisterLayer and RemoveLayer. At last, a system based on the above specification was implemented to prove the feasibility and applicability of the above principles. It is proved that the specification well meet the management requirements of WMS and WFS.
