Abstract
The integration of measurement equipment and actuators in distribution networks enables concepts of autonomous and automated network operation. The trend of adding network automation is motivated by the increasing integration of decentralized generation units on the distribution level. This development leads to continuously changing grid behavior as there are times when load or feed-in dominate. Therefore an adaptive system control might be useful to prevent critical grid states and to optimize its operation. In this paper a forecast-based algorithm is proposed to reduce active losses and to improve state variables such as voltage range and line loading. The suggested approach involves 15 minutes power measurements from a not fully automated medium-voltage network. Applying rolling forecast and optimization functionalities switching actions in the course of a day are determined. The overall algorithm can be used as an integral part of an autonomous grid control system.
