Abstract
Highly accurate mode matching theory is applied to optimize ring-shaped dielectric resonators with respect to spurious mode separation. Effects of a supporting substrate and the conductive shieldings are taken into account. For one optimized resonator field plots for the lowest order circularly symmetric resonant modes, TE016 and TM016, and lowest order hybrid modes, EH116 and HE116, are given. Using these plots, coupling circuitry has been discussed qualitatively.
