Abstract
Massive spatial data and real-time map rendering is challenging the performance of WebGIS server, which exceeds the capacity of one single server. In this paper, a map rendering cluster is build to make several map rendering servers work tighter. The system is implemented complying with OGC WMS. When the server received the request, the request is divided into sub tasks and delivered to different map render servers to render in parallel. After rendering, the result map images are integrated together and return to user. In theory, the time of map rendering is that of the slowest sub task processing, which greatly shorter than the time of serial processing. Therefore, the performance of map rendering can be greatly improved.
