  • Abstract
The effect of SHMP on the grinding efficiency of bauxite was studied and the mechanisms was also analyzed in this paper by measuring the absorption characteristics, grinding pulp viscosity, the surface electric potential of the bauxite and the surface appearance of particles. The results showed that the content of -0.074 mm in the ground product was increased by 3.73 percentage points under the same grinding conditions using SHMP as grinding aid. The physical adsorption and chemical adsorption were occurred on the bauxite surface, which could reduce the pulp viscosity and change the surface electric potential of the bauxite. Thus the grinding efficiency was enhanced and the energy consumption of grinding was reduced.
