Abstract
This paper presents an investigation of ARX model on input-output data from heating process in a hydro-diffusion steam distillation essential oil extraction system. Two sets of data under feed-in disturbance were collected based on PRBS perturbation. The study was performed by applying system identification and it was carried out by using four general stages; experimental work to collect input-output data, model structure selection where ARX model is chosen, estimation to obtain the ARX model, and validation. From the result, ARX model is able to present the behaviour of heating process is closed to the real system by using selected model order which is [50 39 1]. From the observation, the model order is quite high because of feed-in disturbance that disturb the process and process have nonlinearity although best fit and rmse are very good.
