Abstract
Submillimeter-wavelength receivers for radio astronomy require bandwidths in excess of 1GHz for numerous observations. Following first experiences at 345 and 460 GHz. it became necessary to investigate the factors limiting mixer-and system-bandwidth in waveguide mixers with coaxial chokes. The most significant contrbutions for Schottky diode mixers are found to be the i.f. impedance of the diode. the design of the choke-mount and the choice of i.f.
