Abstract
This paper proposes a method to evaluate sewerage systems using data envelopment analysis (DEA). DEA is a method to measure relative efficiencies of decision making units (DMUs) performing similar tasks in a production system that consumes multiple inputs to produce multiple outputs. Distinctive features of DEA are that it can measure a relative distance of each DMU to so-called DEA-efficient frontier and give information on an optimal weights for DMU´s attributes. So, in this research, we apply DEA to the evaluation of sewerage systems in order to maintain sewerage facilities properly and efficiently, and investigate the effectiveness of using DEA through basic data of sewerage systems and their conditions obtained from inspection.
