  • Abstract
    This paper introduces an instrument for measuring the size and shape of almost any pipes´ interior profile. It describes the components and principle of operation of the instrument. A modular DSP system embedded in the instrument to process the image makes the measurement fast and accurate. The design of the instrument is given from five areas such as optical, electrical, electronics, etc. It has been tested that the information derived from the intelligent instrument can assist not only in making repair decision but also in the generation of the 3-D structure of the pipes.
