Abstract
With the advances in switching technology and network management, dynamic allocation of link bandwidth in logical networks built on top of the physical transmission network is possible. An algorithm for dynamic bandwidth allocation is proposed. The proposed algorithm integrates bandwidth allocation of the packet switched network and the circuit-switched network. Flexible channel assignment of logical links and inverse multiplexing are considered to ensure full flexibility. Extensive numerical results are obtained. A simulation system is built to test the dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm in discrete event simulation
