Abstract
A simple but accurate approximation for the probability of packet success for an asynchronous direct sequence code division multiple access (DS/CDMA) system is developed. In this approximation an improved Gaussian model for the multiple access interference (MAI) is considered and the effect of bit-to-bit error dependence caused by the interfering signal relative delays and phases is taken into account. This approximation allows us to determine the throughput performance of slotted asynchronous DS/CDMA system
