Abstract
Waveform design affects the performance of target detection and parameters estimation for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar. Transmit power is assigned by designing the transmit cross-correlation matrix, which can be regarded as adjusting the correlation between antennas. An algorithm of beampattern design for MIMO radar is presented in this paper. The algorithm replaces the fixed searching length of steepest descent method with variational length without the calculation of the inverse of Hesse matrix. A numerial example is presented to demonstrate that the new algorithm is preferable to existent methods. The time-frequency-angle ambiguity function for MIMO radar is analysed to indicate the performance of the waveform.
