Abstract :
Changes in engineering education place issues of practice at the forefront of the curriculum. This paper describes a course in risk communication that complements the growing emphasis on systemic thinking, social impact awareness, and ethical responsibilities of technology. Rather than taking a genre-driven approach, the course uses four case studies to examine both the rhetorical and the social discourse dimensions of communicating risk
